We left Haugesund around lunchtime heading north through the Vestland Archipelago seeing the mountains to the east , some still with snow.
It was a beautiful 100Nm trip in calm beautiful weather, passing loads of straits, sounds, bridges and ferries.
In Norway,on the contrary to Sweden, rural areas are still very much alive, and allthough infrastructure in this country with a huge archipelago and fiordlands is difficult,it has been an important focus for Norwegian governments (Norway being one of the richest countries in the world helps of course).
Just after sunrise we reached Sognesjöen which is the entrance/exit to the Sognefiord,a 205km/100Nm deep fiord second only to Scoresby Sound on Greenland and so the second largest fiord in the world.
On the island of Yttre Sula we found a little completely enclosed and protected bay (Hossviken) where we anchored Dora Mac at 14m with good holding.
Just 10mins drive with the dinghy is the wreck of M/S Frankenwald on 25-44m depth.
Frankenwald will be our focus for the coming days and we hope to come up with a nice diving video inculding the exciting story behind Frankenwald and her loss.
