In northern Kalmarsund between Swedish mainland and
the island of Öland ,lies the island of Blå Jungfrun.It´s an island surrounded
by mysticism and was believed to be a gatheringplace for witches and their
meeting with the devil in the 17th century.In those days it was called
Blåkulla,and hundreds of women were burnt to death being accused of travelling
to Blåkulla to meet "Hin Håle"(the devil).
In the rudimentary trials that were held,very often
children were the only witnesses.
Similar trials have been held in modern times in
Norway and Sweden concerning men being accused of
pedophily.
