If you have seen whales breathing out at sea before it´s easier to react to it´s charateristic spray over the surface of the sea.
Heading for the secluded Kirkefiord we saw loads of birds gathered indicating lot´s of pelagic fish. Just minutes later we saw the characteristic spray from whales breathing in the vicinity and then the typical dorsal fin of a killerwhale.Coming closer we ran into a family of killerwhales hunting and jumping for several minutes around Dora Mac before disappearing giving very little notice to our presence.
What a magnificent sight to encounter these giant and intelligent master predators of the sea.
Hopefully we will be able to cruise Dora Mac when masses of killerwhales visit Lofoten hunting herring when they come in from the sea late October to January...
