At 07.05 local ships time we saw Vavau(northern
Tonga islands) in heavy rainclouds. After 4 days in the ocean after
Palmerston it was as usual such a good feeling to see land. The passage from
Palmerston has been very demanding, with winds of galeforce, but above all, very
confused and lumpy seas.On the SSB-radionet everymorning,we realised that the
majority of cruisers remained in port during this time, waiting for a
weatherwindow with better weather. The few cruisers being out in the ocean had
the same experince as we had.
Nevertheless,we came to Neiafu at lunchtime, and
managed to clear immigration and customs. We are now anchored in a bay with lot´s
of "djunglesounds",no wind at all anymore, and a clear sky with fullmoon .Out of
"la cuisine francaise"comes crepes, and redvine. How nice to eat dinner on a boat
that is not moving.......
