We returned to Svolvaer Friday evening and family left Saturday morning.
Being alone onboard a couple of days I went in to serviceschedules (change of John Deere oil polishfilter, change of fuel polishfilter, some rustpaint etc..) and while doing this I noticed an increasing amount of water in the bilge (freshwater). Tracing the source I found a wet connection serving kitchen and aft cabin with hot water. This connection has been wet for years but now water was dripping and trying to tighten it a strong spray of water came from one short pipe.
Being almost inaccessible it took some hours of bad words before I had it all changed, back in place and watertight (the black stuff is sealing compound taken away when it´s dry).
As seen on the picture there´s a crack in the pipe. This has happened before but then allways in bends of the piping. The material used in these pipes is not good and this is a well known problem. I have written about it on this blog before, and as far as I know, newer Diesel Ducks have an other material for domestic water piping.
The majority of Dora Mac´s domestic waterpiping has also been changed during the years.
