Always in darkness
For some reason we tend to approach land in darkness. This time was no exception coming in to fast due to speeds over ground sometimes over 8kts (strong current with us).
We chose to make landfall at Palmilla beach just north of Saona island where we knew there was Armada (navy) located for our clearance and despacho(important cruise document in the Dom Republic).
Dropping anchor in 4m sand we needed to retreive the paravanes who were resting on the bottom. With courtesy and Q-flag in starboard spreader we needed to get in touch with the armada on VHF Ch 16/68 early morning. Going to bed we fell asleep within minutes gently rocked by the sea.
To wake up in the morning alone at anchor in front of a beautiful wild beach in crystal clear water, jump into the water for a morning swim followed by breakfast and coffee was all we had worked for.
