34:42.487N 076:39.834W We had a good time, did some shopping, found a gem of a little chandlery that had our engine water pump impeller in stock, managed to get everything we wanted, did laundry and had a good wander around. ![]() We love the health and safety standards in America 🤣😂. ![]() Friends of Tom and Sabrina’s, Lorrie and Jack who we had met briefly last year were in one of the marinas with access to a courtesy car and offered to take us shopping 🤩 this meant a trip to the Lidl in Moorehead city. Lorrie and Jack had never been to a Lidl and loved it! we also had a lovely evening in a local bar with them, as you can see its not warm but there was a nice fire going ![]() Waiting was frustrating though and when we woke and looked at the weather on the 19th it looked like as good a window in the near future to leave, wasn’t perfect but at the time GFS and ECM both said between one and two days motoring and the rest would be sailing and so we made the impulsive decision to go without prepared meals although I did have one of my previous prepared meals left and we went for it. A boat we had met - Tonks had come into the Anchorage in the night and they popped over to see us knowing that we were leaving, after their visit we went filled up with fuel and headed off. When we left the dock it was about 1045 in the morning - coincidentally we left Beaufort in 2019 on 19/11 ! As soon as we were out of the channel we were sailing immediately it was a bit bumpy getting out of the harbour but we had a good sail Got to the Gulfstream and it was a bit bumpy but actually as the depth of water dropped away the sea got better and despite the fact that for part of the crossing that night, we had 20 to 22 kn from the north where the seas really weren’t very bad at all while I imagined it would be a lot feistier than it was. I had been feeling a little bit anxious and apprehensive about the golf stream but at the end of the day had nothing to worry about. |
