                | 17:04.54N 61:53.59W We had been waiting for a few days in Leverick Bay for the wind to go a
little north so that we could set off for Antigua, during our wait we rearranged
and repacked lockers in the boat, made some space for supplies and emptied some
cupboards for Gerry who is meeting us in Antigua and who is sailing back to the
UK with us if all goes to plan. After a few days of strong easterly winds the
forecast was for 36 hours of ENE so we set off for the 180 mile passage at 0700
yesterday morning, the wind was still strong and seas 2-3 meter so it wasn't a
comfortable sail despite 2 reefs in the main and genoa, during the afternoon and
night the winds and seas calmed down and we were a little more comfortable
though it wasn't easy moving around the boat, we had to put in a couple of tacks
to pass Saba, St Eustatius, St Kitts and Nevis all of which would have been nice
to stop at and explore but the weather window just wasn't long enough to we
sailed on past them and arrived in Antigua at 4 pm local time, we are currently
anchored outside Jolly Harbour. |
