25:25.687N076:36.133E The forecast yesterday didn't look at all promising for a sail today but once out of the harbour there was about 8 kns of wind on the beam in flat water so after 15 minutes we were having a great sail in the shallow turquoise water, we even had a visit from 2 dolphins - i don't think they were impressed and didn't stay long! ![]() ![]() We got to the anchorage on Eleuthera just before 5pm,There were 3 other boats anchored - it was a little bouncy but that soon died down and we had a peaceful night. The following day we went ashore to check out the Glass window bridge and Queens Baths, we put the electric outboard on the dinghy and set off ashore, it felt soooo good to be on a beautiful beach at last. ![]() ![]() Along the way there was a small blowhole - as it was near low tide it probably wasn’t as impressive as it can be 🤣 ![]() Neither was the bridge although I found these 2 images online which shows it well, there used to be a natural arch spanning the gap, sadly it was destroyed by a hurricane and replaced by a far less attractive concrete road bridge, we should have flown the drone as it's the only way to appreciate the contrasting colours of the deep blue Atlantic and the turquoise water of the Exuma sound on the other side. ![]() ![]() Water flowing from the rough atlantic side to the flat water on the west side of the island ![]() ![]() Next we went to the Cow and Bull rocks 🤷♀️!!! Underwhelming ![]() and finally the Queens Baths, some natural pools carved by centuries of waves pounding the rock are filled with crashing waves washing over from the Atlantic Ocean. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Although the beach was protected by a headland by the time we headed back to the boat, further out in the bay, the wind had picked up from the SW and we had a bit of a wet dinghy ride back. We should have decided to leave and seek a less expose anchorage, we assumed it would calm down later like it did yesterday and friends Tom and Janine on Kismet had said they were heading here. Staying was a bad move, by the time they arrived it was far too bouncy to get in the dinghy and go and see them. We did look at where we could go but from reading reviews on Hatchet bay which is that the nearest anchorage we thought would probably be crowded and so stayed the night, all I can say is I didn't get much sleep - it was impossible to sleep in our berth at the stern as it was rising and falling a few feet on each wave - the middle of the boat was best for least movement but everywhere was noisy. We were both up before first light and after messaging Janine we lifted anchor as soon as it was light, we went past Kismet as they were on deck, they too were leaving and told them we were heading to Hatchet bay.
