We have returned to Chesapeake Boatworks in Deltaville to be lifted out, we are flying home to the UK for 2 months and working on the boat when we return. We were lifted here in 2012 for a bottom paint and Hurricane Sandy came along so we stayed out a bit longer. The yard were friendly and the lift was very stress free as well as being a very good rate so we have chosen to return again. Though Deltaville is a bit remote the yard has easy access to Hurds hardware store, a West marine and Supermarket, the marina has a swimming pool, BBQ area Skippers lounge and shower block, laundry facilities and courtesy bicycles and car.
We arrived at about the same time as Nicky and Reg on Blue Velvet of Sark who we had previously met in 2018 in Bequia, we also received a message from Lydia and Bill Strickland who put us up during Sandy and were in the yacht club when we anchored, both are the Ocean Cruising Club Regional rear Commodores for SE USA . A few evenings after we arrived they put on an evening get together at the yacht club for all the OCC boats in Deltaville.
It wasn’t long before some more boats we knew arrived - Suzie Too and Supertramp came and anchored in the bay. We had a lovely time socialising with everyone.
We were lifted out on 24the June which gave us a week to clean the boat and prepare her for being left for 2 months.Once the days work on boat was completed we would head off to the pool for a cool down before cooking on the BBQs to keep the heat down on the boat (it's hot in Deltaville in the summer 90+ degrees every day)!
