We were up early to get the first bridge opening at 8.30 about an hour away  - checked the news before we left 😬 it looks like Trump has won the election! I messaged Sabrina at the same time she messaged me to say Toms back wasn’t good - an old injury playing up and they were staying behind for the day, we were keen to get to Great Bridge to use the laundry and do some fresh food shopping so we headed off.
We got to Gilmerton bridge in good time and joined the queue of boats waiting for it to open - they do have some clever bridges here, Gilmerton lifts the road up horizontally for boats to go under, next to it is a rail bridge which is normally open and just closed for trains to pass.
You have to concentrate along the intercostal waterway as outside the channel shoals very quickly - its a bit strange seeing fishermen up to their waists in the water.
We made good time and were moored up south of Great Bridge by 10.15, we had expected it to be busy but there was only one boat north of the river and we were billy no friends on the south dock!

We got the washing and shopping done and also arranged to fill our water tank in the morning at the marina opposite - so all in all a good day!
