With the weather forecast changing every download and strong winds(40knots) potentially coming from every direction we contacted Botafoc Marina, in Ibiza town, to see if it was going to be silly money or not and were surprised when they said €24 a night water and electricity extra, we hadn’t wanted to come in until the 20th but as they said we would have to call again tomorrow for availability we chose to go in today to guarantee a mooring. We left Formentera and had a gentle sail halfway to Ibiza town and motored the rest of the way.
It seems everyone wanted to hide somewhere safe and a lot of the cruising boats headed into marinas including Toodle-oo and Rockhopper.
We ended up staying 5 nights - it turned out the berth was basically €20.31a night plus a one off navigation light fee of €6.05, we did not have to pay for water or electricity as we didn’t need or use any so all in all not expensive! We also had time to get to know Ibiza town a bit better, in 2004-5 we spent 3 months in ibiza based at Santa Eulalia Marina and although we frequented the chandleries etc in Ibiza town we didn’t really get to explore the old town so it was a opportunity to take advantage of it not being too hot or full of tourists and have a good walk around the old town and the Castell D’Eivissa.

We also took a scenic walk to the Decathlon store to get a few bits, google maps didn’t show the pedestrian bridge over the busy duel carriage way which ran next to this lovely old track so the walk back to the boat over the bridge was a lot quicker 🙄.

Of course we socialised with Bill and Laurie, exploring the town with them as well as onboard Toodle-oo and we also had a lovely evening out with them and Carl and Jo from Rockhopper.
The weather wasn’t as bad at times as it was predicted to be but there was 40 plus knots on 2 days we were there so all in all a good decission!
