The weather was perfect when we arrived at Formentera, the anchorage was almost empty, crystal clear water and a lovely blue sky, the water was so clear it reminded me so much of the Bahamas ❤️, its such a shame it's so cold this time of year! We did brave it and got in the water to do some hull cleaning, of course we donned wetsuits 😂, I still found it pretty cold after a while especially once I got my head underwater, we really only managed to clean down as far as we could reach from the surface! The hull growth isn’t bad - it has a thin layer of furry slime which comes off fairly easily with a stiff brush, Im sure the boat will be happier once we have managed to give it all a clean though! Soon a couple of boats we know came and anchored not too far away - Toodle-oo with Bill and Laurie on board who we met in the Caribbean and last saw last year in Portimao and Rockhopper of London who have been in Ibiza for a few days picking up visitors. We took the dinghy ashore with Toodle-oo and went for a rather nice walk along the beach into the village of La Sivana and then back around the lagoon and salt pans, we even saw some flamingos 🦩in the lagoon - they weren’t very pink though! It certainly was beginning to feel like summer was on its way for a couple of days, then the strong winds which had been forecast for a while decided to come straight over Ibiza and potentially blow from every direction makingg finding a secure anchorage a challenge! So we looked for somewhere to hide and after reading reviews etc we decided to call Botafoc Marina to see what they charged and if they had space for us for a few days, we were unable to book a berth for the following day but could go into the marina immediately and get a berth so we opted to head to Ibiza town and get safely into the marina for the bad weather! |
