We're on a mission now to get out of the Schengen area and the forecast said either go today and be able to sail a fair bit of the trip or get stuck in Sicily for a week+! I had hoped to go to Siracusa to replenish my fresh fruit and veg supplies at the fantastic market there and had intentionally not bothered to get  any on our last shop in Malta on the assumption we would go there - sadly not this time and not a good reason why not to head off to the foot of Italy, as it was only a 90 odd mile sail we didn’t need to leave early and set off at around 11am, once the wind had filled in and were soon sailing, as we no longer have a cruising chute to use we now know how Lucy and Jigs on Falkor felt every time we sailed past them with ours up!
Adriana going past with her Cruising chute flying!
We managed to sail most of the time until about 3 am when we had to give up and motor the last few hours arriving at Africo Nuovo at about 6 am anchoring and getting a few hours sleep.
