We have managed to sail every time we’ve moved and today was no different - we had a lovely sail down to Rock Sound, it's very shallow and we weren’t sure we would be able to get in very far but thought it worth a try, we followed the recommended track in with 0.2-0.3m under the keel most of the way and stopped when the charts say we shouldn’t try to go any further so we anchored about 0.6mile from the dinghy dock. We weren’t sure what state of tide it was but knew it was falling and near low tide - there is about 0.7m, the bottom is flat sand so we weren’t too bothered about touching the bottom at low water - which we didnt do as the least depth we had was 0.1m! 

We went ashore for a walk and to see some of the sights - soon we met Warren who’s an artist and insisted we had our picture taken by him sitting in front of a sign he made! We chatted to him for a while land looked around his studio before continuing on our way

 

There are a few blue holes in the bay and a couple on land, one is used by the locals as their swimming pool, it's right in town near the school, the water isn’t very clear and there are fish. There is thought to be a connection between it and the ocean, it's pretty big and 186m deep.

We then headed off to find the Cathedral caves and boiling hole which is another blue hole just in front of the caves.

  

The caves were quite cool, you could hear and occasionally see bats up in the cave roof, and numerous tree roots growing right through the caves.

We have really enjoyed Eleuthera with its uncrowded anchorages, gorgeous beaches and the beautiful water with its many different shades of blue and turquoise, the locals we have met have all been friendly and we were made to feel welcome, hopefully we will be back soon!
