We returned to Aruba October 18 flying with Avianca Airlines over Bogota. Chosing this route was a mistake since Aruba don´t accept dogs from any country in Southamerica and flying direct from Amsterdam with KLM would have been a better choice.

Passing through customs in Aruba we needed to open all bags with loads of spareparts but thanks to a letter from the shipyard we managed without any extra fees.

Having an Airbnb for the first week of work with Dora Mac we were surprised by the heat and working on Dora Mac the first days was a hard strike against the bodys fluid balance.

After some days in Aruba our hurricane tracker apps showed a tropical depression on the North Atlantic just east of the Windward Islands prognosed to pass just north of the ABC islands.

Allthough not having any major hurricane in Aruba since 1877 some tension was noticed not only among cruisers but also the management of the marina.

Passing just north of Aruba as a tropical storm, little was noticed locally at the Varadero shipyard but only days later the tropical storm collected loads of energy from a hot Caribbean Sea and developed a major cat 5 hurricane (the worst hurricane of the year) with the name Melissa. Turning north it hit Jamaica with full strenght creating havoc and also the eastern parts of Cuba as well as Bahamas were hit.
