Vi har sett omtrent hele øya i dag - fra scooter! Sammen med Anne Grethe, Fred og Bjørn (Dream Catcher) og Alex og Ingrid (Seven) leide vi scootere for å kjøre rundt øya. Helt på den andre enden av Bermuda ligger "Dockyard" - tidligere en viktig marinebase for den britiske marinen, men nå omgjort til museum, butikker, spisesteder og marina for fritidsbåter osv. Flotte gamle bygninger og mye historie å se både innenfor og utenfor museet. Gutta brukte en time for å se seg rundt museet og den gamle festningen mens jentene var på kunstgallerier og sjekket den fine snorkle-stranden. Vi valgte en litt annen trasé for hjemturen og fikk da med oss det aller meste av øya. Vi var også på øyas høyeste punkt der et flott fyrtårn fra 1846 står - 185 trappetrinn til toppen der utsikten var helt fantastisk. Vel tilbake i St. George ble det tid til et par glass rødvin før alle returnerte til egne båter. Dagens bilde - oss med den leide scooteren.

 

We have seen the vast majority of Bermuda today - from a 50cc scooter. Together with Anne Grethe, Fred and Bjørn (Dream Catcher) and Alex and Ingrid (Seven) we all hired scooters from a local hire company in order to see the island. At the far end of Bermuda is the old British naval dockyards - now turned into a pleasure boat marina, museum, shops and restaurants. Here there are lots of fine old buildings with lots of history to be seen, both inside and outside the naval museum. The boys spent an hour in the museum while the girls toured the art galleries and the beach. We drove back on slightly different roads which meant we have now seen the vast majority of the island. We stopped at the islands highest point where a fine lighthouse was built in 1846. 185 steps up to the top give a commanding view of the islands and reefs forming Bermuda. Back at St. George we took a glass of wine at a pub before returning to our respective boats. Today's picture is of us and our scooter.
