Øyvinn fra Dumle og jeg ringte til Duogen i England i dag morges og har nå avtalt at reservedelene sendes til Nigels foreldre i England og at de skal ta dem med seg. Vi trenger den samme delen - noe som tyder på at denne delen er underdimensjonert i forhold til belastningen - noe som bekreftes av at den nyeste versjon av denne strømgeneratoren kommer i en litt kraftigere utgave. Det var godt å bli ferdig med den saken for en stund. Vi avtalte å møtes for lunsj sammen med Dumle på Basil's, og brukte resten av formiddagen til en nytt forsøk på å tre på slangen fra septiktanken - noe som vi lyktes med delvis. Jeg må nok bygge om litt når vi kommer til St. Lucia og har tilgang til deler, men det får holde inntil da. Jeg sitter med en følelse at jeg bruker flere timer på vedlikehold av toalettene enn jeg bruker til å sitte på ramma!

 

Etter lunsjen gikk vi litt på måfå rundt på øya sammen med Dumle-gjengen og hadde noen fine avslappende timer. Dagens bilde viser Dumle-gjengen.

 

Øyvinn from Dumle and I phoned to Duogen this morning in order to be sure that we would get the spare parts we need - exactly the same part is broken on both boats which tends to imply a design error. This is really confirmed by Duogen who have upgraded this shaft to a larger size in the newer version of the generator. It is good to be done with that matter for a while as the Duogen is an important piece of gear both on ocean crossings, and in harbour. The parts should arrive at Nigel's parents the day before they leave to visit us - a just-in-time solution (which we hope will not turn in to a just-too-late one!). The rest of the morning was spent on a new attempt at getting the hose from the septic tank onto the stop cock - which we eventually managed, though I'm not happy with the job as there is a kink in the hose which I fear will be susceptible for blockages. I'll completely re-do the piping incorporating a Y-valve when we get to St. Lucia. My impression of toilets on this boat is that I spend more time in total on maintenance than I do actually sitting on them!

 

We arranged to meet for lunch with the Dumle-family på Basil's and afterwards walked around the island entertaining ourselves for several hours. We were mostly around the air strip and could watch the planes coming and going - quite a lot of activity for such a small island. In this area is the school playground, the tennis court, riding centre and a lot of nice looking houses and gardens. Today's picture is of the Høie family on Dumle.
