Idag har vi forberedt litt til det store innkjøpet av mat til turen. Vi planla noen menyer for middager og så litt på regnearket over hva vi allerede har kjøpt. Det blir litt komplisert å planlegge uten å vite hva slags utvalg butikkene har, og holdbarheten til forskjellige matvarer. Vi kom ikke så veldig langt før vi fant ut at vi bør først se på utvalget i butikken, for så å planlegge litt mer detaljert. Vi valgte en veldig flott butikk som hadde et utrolig utvalg av kvalitetsmat. Litt dyrere er det nok her, men vi skal kjøpe basisvarer først fra en annen butikk. Vi ser at det kan bli mange spennende og varierte måltider ute på havet uten å ty til altfor mye kjedelig boksmat. Vi handlet litt til turen, og en del ting som vi skal ha med oss til Karibia som god vin, champagne og julemat.

 

Vi var på enda en gratis tilstelning i går kveld som var sponset av Las Palmas turistråd og hadde selve ordføreren som æresgjest og taler. Se dagens bilde av ordføreren sammen med Rønnaug.

 

Vi skal snart skifte til klær mer passende cocktail-selskap på den kongelige seilforeningen her, som igjen disker opp med gratis drikke! Før det skal vi treffe Marit og Roald - Rønnaugs foreldre, som kom med fly fra Oslo i dag.

 

Today we have done the preparatory work for the purchase of provisions for the crossing. After some planning of meals and menus, seeing what we have on board already form the spreadsheets etc, we decided that we would have to check the available food and typical shelf-lives before we could get any further. We walked through town to a particularly good supermarket - El Corte Inglés - which had a truly amazing selection of fresh, vacuum packed, and conserved foods. We spent a good two hours here seeing what would make good meals, looking at the "best before" dates etc. We bought a few things to get stowed early plus things we want to have all the way across such as good wine, champagne, mince pies etc.

 

Last night we went to another of the sponsored drinks events, this time the Las Palmas tourist council was the sponsor and the mayor of Las Palmas was the guest of honour and speaker. See today's picture of her and Rønnaug.

 

We will soon change into clothes more suitable for a cocktail party at the royal sail club - before we go there we are going to welcome Marit and Roald - Rønnaug's parents - who flew in to Las Palmas this afternoon and are staying here for two weeks.
