Mye vind i natt og kraftig regn - vi lå trygt og godt men det ble en del bevegelse i båten og knirking i tauverket. Det har regnet av og til mesteparten av dagen, men rundt fire tiden kom sola fram og varmet skikkelig. Inntil da hadde vi hatt en "innedag" som passet fint å lage en sjøkøye i kahytten. Vi fant ut på overfarten fra Portugal at når man har fire personer ombord, og at det er litt mer bølger enn man ønsker, så fungerer hovedlugaren i forpiggen dårlig som soveplass - det er for mye plass til å rulle fra side til side og i motsjø er baugens bevegelser for store til å kunne sove komfortabelt. Vi har gode plasser i lugarene akter - men den ene er til mannskap og den andre har plass til én, slik at når både Rønnaug og jeg har frivakt, så mangler vi en god plass å sove. Dermed behovet for å kunne lage en ordning slik at man bruker sofaen på styrbord side til en stikkøye mot bordet. Heldigvis fant jeg alt jeg trengte til dette ombord i mine reserver, og det gjenstår bare å prøve ut køya på turen over til Kanariøyene.

 

Vi hadde tenkt å gå en tur men da det først ble opphold skulle jeg klippes, og da var det ikke tid til noen tur lenger. Dagens bilde - trompet-blomster.

 

A lot of wind and heavy rain during the night - although we lay well moored to the pontoons there was some movement in the boat and creaking of ropes and we didn't sleep that well. It has rained on and off most of the day, the sun getting out at about four and making everything dry off nicely. We have then had an indoors day which suited well to a task I have had on my list of making a good sea berth in the saloon. We discovered on the trip over from Portugal that when we are four on board then we lack a sea berth when both Rønnaug and I have free-watch. Our cabin in the bow is too roomy when the boat is rolling a lot, and a bit to vulnerable for pitching when going against the waves. When the guest cabin is occupied by crew, then the single place in the other stern cabin suits fine for one person, but we need two places. We have now made the sofa on starboard into a sea berth by securing a netting from the edge of the sofa to the underside of the saloon table - we just need to try it out on the crossing to the Canaries.

 

We had hoped for a walk today, but by the time the sun had come out it was time for my haircut, then the afternoon was gone. Today's pictuer is of a trumpet flower tree.
