Ingrid, Hannah (who is learning to drink at an early age), Miles, Nigel, Rønnaug

A rest day for us today. We went to bed early and got up late, recovering a bit of the sleep deficit from the overnight sail. We were just done with breakfast and were still struggling with yesterday's brick of a newspaper when our friend Miles phoned. He is originally from England, but has lived in Porsgrunn in Norway (where we also lived for many years) the last ten years. He, his charming wife Ingrid and their adorable daughter Hannah, to whom we are godparents, are staying with his parents in Redruth for a couple of weeks. This is about 45 minutes drive from Penzance. The invited us over to join them for a family and friends barbecue together with his three brothers, their wives, and a friend of Miles from London - who we met at their wedding. They picked us up by car,  and we drove to Redruth for a very pleasant afternoon with good food and wine. Just a shame that the weather wasn't a bit more on our side - the gale from yesterday is still with us, the sun occasionally finding a small crack between the clouds. Despite this the afternoon was a great success and we got to chat a lot with them all. Two of the three brothers were at Miles' and Ingrid's wedding, but one hardly gets to chat with everybody as such occasions, so it was nice to have plenty of time in a smaller gathering to get to know the whole family. Some of the guests had a swim in the swimming pool in a vain attempt to work off some of the excellent food - see picture.

We took the train back to Penzance - as no one would sell us a ticket, the trip ended up being free! Arriving back at the harbour we found that there had been some re-arrangements. Two boats on the inside of us had gone, and two new ones arrived outside us, so we are now boat #3 in the raft, meaning more noisy tramping over our foredeck in the mornings.
