Vi flyttet oss tilbake til ankerplassen i går ettermiddag - og tok en liten tur ut av havnen også for å tømme septiktanken. Det er mye bedre å ligge for anker enn utenpå andre båter på utsiden av den indre moloen. Vi invitterte Ingrid og Alexander over for middag og ble enig om å leie en bil for to dager sammen med dem. Så i dag har vi kjørt hele øya rundt - og sett det meste som øya har å tilby. Øya er grønn og frodig med flotte blomster som vokser vilt overalt. Det var ikke vits å kjøre opp til det store krateret som utgjør øyas høyeste fjell fordi skydekket var så lavt. Utover flotte utsikter over havet og klippene, litt vulkansk geologi og en park eller to så har ikke Faial så veldig mye å tilby når været ikke er på topp. Utsiktene over Horta er fine - se dagens bilde. I kveld har vi vært i bursdagsselskap for Gina ombord "Hvorfor Ikke" - hun fylte seks år i dag.

 

We moved off the breakwater yesterday evening, took a little trip outside the harbour in order to empty the septic tank, and dropped the anchor in about the same spot at we had been laying. We invited Ingrid and Alex from "Seven" over for dinner and agreed with them to hire a car for a couple of days. So today we have driven round the majority of the island of Faial and seen what it has to offer - which isn't that much really. The main attraction is the giant crater at the top of the volcano which is the mountain at the heart of the island, but the cloud cover was low today and there was really no point in making the trip. Instead we kept to the coast roads and saw all the viewpoints of the sea, cliffs and other volcanic features. I am sure that it is much better in warm sunny weather. The island is very lush and green with lots of flowers growing wild in the hedgerows and farming being a major industry. The views over the town of Horta were very good - see today's picture. This evening we have been to a party for Gina on "Hvorfor Ikke" who was six years old today.
