John besøkte oss i dag.
John came aboard for a visit today.

We have had a lovely warm and sunny day today. We were just getting into the dinghy to go ashore when the harbourmaster's dory came along side and asked us if we could move the boat as a large ferry was due to be launched from the maintenance slip and we were rather in the way. We got a space to moor up on the outside of the inner breakwater, outside three other boats. This suited us well as we were due to be visited by John, the father of a friend of Nigel from the days at university, so we didn't need to ferry him out in the dinghy. We had a couple of very pleasant hours with him on board for coffee and pastries. Having access to running water we have also filled the tanks and scrubbed the teak deck. But we don't like being here - there is too much creaking from the ropes and fenders, we can hear the French neighbours (one boat also outside us) and it the wind gets up it could be quite uncomfortable here. So we will move back out to anchor a little later in the day when we have done all our errands such as delivering a sail to be repaired and picking up the laundry.
