I dag sto vi opp tidlig og hentet en leiebil sammen med Fred og Anne Grethe fra Dream Catcher. Litt luksus denne gangen - en Opel Astra med air-condition.  Fred har måttet sende radaranlegget fra båten tilbake til Sverige for reparasjon og denne er nå på Lanzarote. Først stoppet vi ved flyplassen der vi trodde den var og der tollkontrollen skulle foregå. Vi ble sendt videre til kontoret til de som håndtere slike saker, men dette tar tid og nå på slutten av dagen er fremdeles radaren på flyplassen, men papirmølla har iallfall begynt å kverne. Resten av formiddagen brukte vi på IKEA der vi handlet diverse ting til båtene og turen over samt litt svensk mat som kaviar, sursild og "köttbullar i gräddsås". Lunsj spiste vi der også - med svensk preg.

 

På bilturen vår var vi innom kunstsenteret som César Manrique der det var mye av hans kunst på utstilling samt mange andre samtidskunstnere. Selve bygningen og haveanlegget var også flotte - bygd på et lavafelt fra et utbrudd fra 1700-tallet. Deretter bar turen til en tropisk park med mange papegøyer og andre fuglearter og dyr. Her var det også en oppvisning av papegøyer som kunne utføre triks som å sykle osv. Dagens bilde - syklende fugl.

 

We got up early and picked up a rental car - a little more luxurious than on Madeira this time, an Opel Astra with air condition. Fred (Dream Catcher) had sent the boat's radar back to Sweden to be repaired, and this has now come to Lanzarote. We stopped at the airport to try and get it through customs, but this is clearly going to be a major task. We drove to the offices of the cargo company and did some paperwork, but by the end of the day we were no closer to getting the radar out of the bonded warehouse. The rest of the morning was spent at IKEA where diverse things were bought for the boat and the Atlantic crossing. We also bought some Swedish food items which we are fond of - including pickled herrings. We had lunch at the restaurant there - again very Scandinavian food.

 

After lunch we visited the art gallery and park built by César Manrique which was both an impressive building and "gardens", built on a lava flow from an eruption in the eighteenth century. there was lots of art and sculptures by the man himself, plus many works by contemporary artists. Afterwards we drove to a tropical park with a fine selection of tropical birds and animals, plus an entertaining show of performing parrots who could do many tricks including riding a bicycle (see today's photo).
