Distance run: 5.7 nmiles

The trip back to Rebak from Telaga with both RIBs went smoothly, and gave us a chance to play around with the new navigation equipment.  Apart from losing the GPS signal when we turned off the radar, all seemed to work well, and the autopilot worked fine with the old remote control unit, which Steve had registered with the new course computer.  We’ll have to monitor the GPS/radar problem, but otherwise all was fine.

It was good to have the opportunity to check out some old systems too, and we had no issues with the anchor windlass. Although the davit cables were a bit stiff, the dinghy came up on them fine, and the reinforcement of the davits after they were bent in the fishing net incident is good and almost unnoticeable.

In all it was a productive and useful trip, and we were back in Rebak, tied alongside in E9 by teatime.

The plan now is to test the outboard engine on the RIB tomorrow and finish up any small jobs that need doing.  On Tuesday we’ll go to Langkawi to do some food stocking up and attend to checking out formalities, so that early on Wednesday we can slip the lines and head out of Rebak.  First stop, the island of Koh Lipe, about 25nmiles away. A nice, short, daysail for our first real passage in a very long time.  Exciting!
