Title: Cartagena

Have spent a couple of days here relaxing and enjoying the swimming pool, and at the same time trying to sort out where we might get some jobs done on the boat. We had thought we might get them done in Gibraltar, but we have had a recommendation of the boatyard at Almerimar which was to be our next port of call anyway, so we have been in touch and will be making our way there a day or two sooner than planned.  We will probably have the boat lifted there, as we have some patches on the hull where the antifoul has come off which need some attention.  We suspect something has hit the hull, maybe a log.  We often see objects floating in the water and at night there is no chance to avoid them as we just don't see them.  We also need to get the rudder stock sorted out as it has been leaking since we left Marmaris.

So because we decided to leave Cartagena sooner than anticipated, we had to squeeze in the visit to the Naval museum and El Corte Ingles in one day, and then get back to the boat by 5 to leave. The Naval museum was interesting, particularly the way the Armada campaign was presented. It is always very interesting seeing something from the point of view of the 'other side'.  Steve & Rob then went back to the boats and Sarah and I rushed around El Corte Ingles.  We weren't able to do justice to its six floors, but we did enjoy a delicious pastry and capuccino in the coffee shop and I bought a Christening present for our Grandson Connor.  I was tempted to buy him his first pair of Levi's, but at 48 euros a pair I decided he's just a bit young to appreciate them just yet!!

Back at the marina things were cranking up ready for the start of the festivities, and as they tried out the PA system we realised it was probably a good thing we were moving on!
