Last season we had our fair share of leaks to deal with onboard Dora Mac.
This season seems to follow the same path.
Last issue came from the domestic watersystem again. When checking the ER bilge, freshwater has been slowly gathering and when doing leak research it was traced down to the cold water connection of the hotwater tank.Trying to tighten the connection made it worse and when taken apart it proved to be a crack in the pipe itself(seen in the middle of the inside of the pipe on the picture). It was rectified by cutting away the cracked part and reconnecting.
As I understand it has been an ongoing problem with leaks from the domestic watersystem on Diesel Ducks traced down to poor quality of the pipematerial. On Ducks being built lately I have been told Pex piping has replaced the old material hopefully giving less problems with leaks.
Being such a complicated boat you are dependent on a working freshwatersystem. Among other things you can`t use the toilets if it fails.
Under such circumstances I miss my old manually managed toilets on Tarita.
To many complicated systems and the risk is you spend your time servicing and repairing instead of cruising.
