The Bardo museum is set inside a palace, the former official residence of the Husseinite Beys, built in 1249-1277 and then rebuilt in the late 17th century. It became a museum in 1888. The ceilings were especially stunning.

Mosaics are literally on every wall and every floor. Below are a few photographs of the palace, some trying to show how many mosaics there were and a shot of the workers restoring another mosaic. We really could put more on the blog but we are afraid your eyes may go funny.

We also found where all the emperors heads are displayed (remember the blog on Bulla Regia where we photographed the statue with no head….we are leaving it for the readers to use photo shop to mix and match the heads with the body!).
