We spent most of today sorting out and cataloging our spares. Eventually we had to stop and get ready for New Years Eve.

In the early part of the evening we had a meal on board Day Spring. We supplied the starter, chips and various dips. Stephen made the dips under the watchful eye of Anne and Yoyo. (Two of the dips involved tuna so Yoyo wasn’t very happy watching it disappear off the boat). Jules did the main course and Karen & Barbara provided deserts.

After much mulled wine, red wine, food and deserts we walked off the calories and went to see the midnight fireworks in central Lagos. We were just across the river from where the fireworks were set off. We’re not sure we’ve been this close to organized fireworks. The fireworks were quite spectacular – but we were maybe a bit too close to get the full impact. The ash in our Champagne from time to time didn’t help. We also watched the displays at Portimao, Albufeira and Vilamoura along the coast(all from the one vantage point in Lagos).

We then left our group of friends in town as we needed to check Koshka & Yoyo were OK after the fireworks. They were fine – they had possibly been partying without us.
