We then drove to Le Kef and found a hotel for the night. It was quite good albeit simple and cost £11 each including breakfast.

In the evening we went for a walk around the town. It was a bit of a dump and we didn’t find anywhere we wanted to eat (we only found 2 restaurants). We managed to find a supermarket (Le Kef style, ie run down) and bought any food we could eat without cooking. We had a wonderful meal of crisps, soft cheese and water!

We tried to visit the museum but it was closed on Mondays. We took a picture of the museums ornate door.

We did find the Kasbah, the local fort. The custodian was still there although there was some discussion on the closing time – we think he may have been just about to close. Anyway he still gave us a very enthusiastic tour around in French – we think we understood most of what he was saying. From the top of the Kasbah we could see Algeria.
