Today was a wet and windy day. Just the sort of miserable day to visit the dentist, so we did – for a clean and polish.

The gear box parts had still not arrived so Stephen walked to the workshop across town. His cunning plan involved getting the part numbers and asking a friend to fly out with the parts this weekend (he was flying out to meet us anyway). After a 30 minute walk in the rain he was greeted with the news the parts had arrived! They will be fitted tomorrow. Hopefully this will cure the problem. We are still waiting for post and the electronics spare parts.

On the way back, and since he was wet through anyway, he stopped of at Morrisons as part of the “cat food hunting expedition”. No luck. They were still all out.

In the afternoon Anne sorted out our books and did some more planning as to where we will sail to next. Stephen went back to the engine room cleaning around the gear box in preparation for the new seals. He also removed the old fan belts (a job made intricately more difficult by the addition of the water maker pump that runs off a second pulley system).

We met up with Rafiki who arrived last night – we originally met them in Cascais for a “quick drink” that turned serious.

This evening we watched “March of the Penguins”. It made us realise the weather could be much worse than it is!
