We woke up this morning and saw blue sky. Thinking we were
dreaming we went back to sleep…and then realised…it really had
stopped raining and paradise was returning to normal in time for Christmas!
We jumped out of bed and headed for the local market to buy
the local vegetables for Christmas dinner. No cherries flown in from Argentina
here, only local produce, even some organic in origin, grown in local fields
and of course chickens being sold (have you ever seen a live chicken in a carrier
bag before…). I think buying chickens as Christmas presents for the
children must be popular, lots were for sale and surely they couldn’t
have been for…oh
We met Richard & Karen on Pyxis this afternoon. They are
still desperately trying to leave Lagos,
the “Velcro” port. We took a picture of the boat and have realised
what is holding them to Lagos.
Richard and Karen were pining for some sprouts for their Christmas dinner;
weather being sunny and almost warm we decided to go for a walk around the local
supermarkets. Success came in the furthest supermarket and the sprouts were
duly delivered. Anne managed to persuade Stephen not to wrap each sprout
individually and hide them around their boat.
Another quiet night in!
At last the real reason why Pyxis can’t leave Lagos nicknamed the Velcro
port
