Tuesday 4th July, 2023 and Wednesday 5th July, 2023. Just 8.48 miles across the bay to Ephidoros where we anchored in the bay just outside the swim buoys. Clive and Tricia followed us in and were next to us. Beautiful clear water and an ideal place to keep having a dip as it is so hot. Clive and Tricia had to abandon coming for drinks as the wind got up so much it was dangerous for them to get in the dinghy and motor to us. Luckily just as the Greek red moon appeared at 10.30 ish the wind dropped and all was still for the night. The next morning we spotted a couple with their dog swimming across the whole width of the bay about a third of a mile two mornings running. Apparently the dog is ten and with its life jacket on it loves the swim. We went ashore for coffee but it was too hot for walking so Jim sat and had an ice cream while I went and got a few bits of shopping and then back to Ariel for a swim before lunch with Clive and Tricia on their boat. Lots of swimming in the afternoon as the water temperature was over 29 degrees. Clive and Tricia came to us for drinks and went back to their boat for dinner just before the wind suddenly started again just before dust but only lasted a couple of hours. A few boats dragged unfortunately for them in the dark but no great disasters. Washing on the rails was suddenly trying to take off. As quickly as it arrived it died without any warning. The winds in Greece are something else! |
