Preveza – 2nd to 5th October, 2011.

Sue and Frank arrived from the airport to a meal ready on Ariel for the travellers.  We spent their first day exploring Preveza and eating at the Mermaid restaurant where the service is very laid back with wonderful Greek food.  Tuesday morning we woke to another lovely sunny morning and headed out from Preveza town quay across the bay to Levkas canal for the 2 o’clock bridge.  We were lucky to see a couple of pelicans standing on the bank watching the small parade of boats passing by.  The sailing was good once out of the canal and we sailed down towards Nidri and we anchored off of the island of Madhouri for a swim.  Later we moved to Tranquil Bay which is now much quieter for the night.

The next day we went ashore as Frank and Sue had paid for an apartment for two weeks just in case we did not arrive from Corfu for the first day or two of their holiday.  We found the tavern where they needed to pick up the key and with hand signals from the owner on the direction of the apartments we found it. It was a small block of apartments with a very good size swimming pool.  The room was on the first floor and faced the mountains with twin beds, ensuite bathroom and a double balcony.  Next door was a small kitchen for use by all.  We decided we would like to have a look at it as it was fairly cheap and we all wondered what quality it would offer.  We were all pleasantly surprised at the high standard it offered for a low cost.  Differently somewhere you could recommend to others.

After lunch we motored out to Skorporious Island and anchored for a wonderful swim with the beautiful island scenery surrounding us.  The water was wonderfully warm and we swam and sun bathed enjoying the October sun.

We sailed back into Vlikho Bay for the night and a visit to the local Greek cafe and a wander to the Yacht Club.
