37:44.74N 23:25.71E Aigina
7th June, 2013.
We left Poros and sailed three quarters of the 15 miles to Aigina enjoying the scenery on the way. On arriving we found several stern too spots. On choosing ours we were ready to drop the anchor and reverse into position. Once the anchor was dropped and we were on our way into the spot our anchor picked up a large old ships anchor with a rusty old chain. It took us about half an hour to get it off with a few choice words from Jim. The harbour is run by the Port Police, Port Authority who collect the money and two divers who take care of the moorings and pontoons for the permanent boats. Obviously, the divers do not want to remove any rubbish from the sea bed as they charge 100 euro’s to untangle the boats which is a daily event.
Once we were free and tied up on the quay we were able to enjoy the atmosphere of Aigina and get ready for Alison and Steve to arrive the next day.
