Vathi, Meganisi.   Saturday, 14th July, 2012.

Another sunny day!  We motored out of the bay down to Nidri for the boys to get a haircut and so Sue and I could enjoy a drink at one of the pool bar’s and be able to swim.   This life is like being in heaven most days and we know we are very lucky.  After a lovely lunch on Ariel we sailed for as long as we could before resulting to the engine to arrive at Vathi on the island of Meganisi to meet up with more friends before they head north to leave their boat for the summer in Corfu. It is amazing how many English people we have met now and how many have become good friends.

We pulled into the first bay for George’s tavern and he very helpfully took the lines and welcomed us to his taverna where 8 of us enjoyed a marvellous meal.  The restaurant had been made ready for a baby boy’s christening which started around ten o’clock.  The tables were beautifully prepared and lovely favours were set out.  The cake arrived which appeared to be covered in cardboard with small sparklers flashing while everyone sang a song to the baby in Greek and then there was clapping.  Five minutes later the baby was fast asleep!  We have never seen such a fuss made for a christening in England.  The Greek music was very nice and quiet which allowed us to fall to sleep easily.
