Our friends decided after looking at the weather to leave today rather than tomorrow after looking at the weather forecast. We then had two decisions to make - check the weather forecast go or stay and decide on what food we needed for Ariel if we went. We had paid until Sunday but when the weather changes it has to be forgotten.
We left around 11 o’clock just as two huge ferries had come and gone on their way. Very soon Naxos was starting to disappear in cloud and not far out the island had disappeared altogether. Jim said we will put up the spray hood just incase of rain ☔️. No sooner had we done it and the heavy rain caught up with us. It must have lasted 30 minutes and then as quick as it arrive it was gone.
We had hoped for lift off the wind but not today as it was on the nose all the time. The main was helping to a degree and half way we had to reef as the afternoon breeze of 15 to 20 knots was becoming quite breezy and the sea was very rolly. We hardly saw any boats and were surprised to see so many on the wall in Livaldi.
The distance covered was 40.5 miles and took us exactly 9 hours.
