Sami. Tuesday 17th July, 2012.
Frank hired a car for the day in order for us to drop him and Sue at the airport as he is off to the Solo’s Nationals in Cornwall. Frank drove up and over the mountains to Argostoli to pick up the airport road along the coast south. The scenery is beautiful and there is no one who could not agree that Cephalonia is a wonderful island.
It turned into a marvellous day for Jim and I as I drove to the winery Robola on the way back and we did a short tour of the winery on our own and watched a video before buying after a tasting session some wonderful bottles we hope. We stopped on the way back at a local taverna and had a wonderful lunch sitting looking at the mountains.
Our lovely daughter phoned while we were driving back to say she had got a 2.1 for her BA (Hons) Early years Childhood Studies degree which we were thrilled about. A marvellous achievement as she had just graduated from Norland with a distinction and had been studying for both at the same time as well as expected to do her 50 hours a week work experience. Proud parents!
Before we returned the car we drove to Eufimia to have a look to see if it would be a fun place to go in Ariel. It is smaller than Sami with restaurants around the quay but the boats were stern to and others were rafted but there did not seem to be any reason why as it looked muddled. We are pleased we looked but probably somewhere we will give a miss to by boat as there is not a lot to do there. The ride along the coast road was very enjoyable.
