We are back on the quay in Poros enjoying this very charming island. Lots of people come by the hydrofoil and the ferry boat from Athens and wander up and down the quay stopping at the little taverna’s on their way. We are extremely lucky as the season is nearly finished and it is very quiet to what August and September has been. On speaking to the locals due to the economy in Greece lots of people on the mainland have been holidaying on the island which has saved them the huge cost of travel. The sun shines everyday and the scenery is wonderful so why would they want to go any further afield. The ferries run regularly and there are lots of rents to let even if you have not booked anything which makes it wonderful to travel as and when you want to.
We have found the most wonderful ice-cream parlour which has 46 favours and they make the ice-cream on the premises. Jim tried blood red orange and I had Poros Island favour. Both were marvellous!
We climbed to the lookout tower and wandered down through the houses. Most are all painted white and blue with painted steps and in their gardens are trees of orange or lemon and beautiful trailing flowers. Near the tower was the very small church which had six chairs inside and was open for people to pray. As you can see from the photograph it is so small Jim would have had to bow his head to go inside.
According to the locals the weather is suppose to stay dry until the end of October. Today the temperature has been over 35 degrees and it is very comfortable.
