After a great few days meeting new people in Vliho where there is a huge community of English people and getting the stainless steel tubing for the new solar panel brought and assembled we decided it was time for more exploring. Vliho is at the head of the bay of Nidri and is very sheltered from all sides although the wind can apparently funnel between the mountains in a blow. Behind the main street is a little high street. The main road has houses and then plots fenced off. In the street behind is the shops and occasionally a large house with the fenced off garden in the main road being their garden. In one of the gardens were this very old van and an equally old fishing boat!! The temperature in winter is roughly 12 to 14 degrees all winter.
We motored over to Skorpios Island to anchor and swim. We decided on the bay which was where Jackie Kennedy loved to sit in the summer house and watch the sea. Big notices all along the beach telling people in several languages it is forbidden to land. One of the boats nearby decided they would take a dinghy ashore. Before they had landed on the beach a security man was coming along and shouted to them to clear off! Skorpios is well known for being very security minded and years ago it was not unknown for them to arrive carrying a gun.
