12 miles sailed to leave the Ria de Arosa.  The an interesting course between the Island of Ons past Ria de Pontevedra and onto the Islands of Del Faro and Saint Martin off of Ria de Vigo.  The sunshine on the white sand of Isla del Faro was irresistible so we changed course and went and anchored.  A short dinghy ride and we were on the white sand and off up the beach for and ice cream.

We left Isla del Faro and went into Bayona at about 7pm.  Quickly ashore again and off up the town to find the restaurant that I went into 10 years ago with Jonathan and Stuart on the delivery of Dave and Natalie Percival’s yacht ‘Precious’ from Turkey.  We struck lucky and found the restaurant ‘El Candil’.  Of course it was fish for dinner, salt baked prawns, octopus, followed by choices of hake, monkfish, swordfish, and crab salad.  A wonderful meal.

At least this visit to Bayona allowed the time to explore the town on Tuesday and a long walk around Bayona castle and the Parador (luxury hotel) within.  In the evening it was Pescador Paella for all in a Bayona restaurant, home made crème caramel washed down with Ria Baixas wine, a delicious meal.

Wednesday because on an unfavourable wind allowed time to take the bus into Vigo and play I spy from the bus looking for Horreos, They are stone grain stores on stone legs, that date back to 1760.  They were to keep the grain dry and protect it from pests. They have stone crosses on the ends for decoration.  There are some 1,700 of these Horreos still left in this area.  We saw numerous of them from the bus.
