23.5.09 We stayed the night very close to Ile St. Nicolas, one of the islands that make up the Iles de Glenan, about 12 miles off the Brittany coast.  In the pilot book it describes the islands as being as close to the Caribbean as you can get in South Brittany.  They are right.  It as very tranquil, the water very clear, you could observe the star fish on the sea bed and the bright purple jellyfish floating by.

The islands are run by the Commune de Fouesnant, with the Glenan sailing school on the islands.  Also it seems very popular with the sub aqua divers.

During our walk ashore in the evening we sat at one of the only 2 bars on the island, had a drink, observed the local swallows catching their supper and watched the sun go down.  A beautiful place to visit in good weather.
