37:19.71N 26:32.77E Patmos Island – Skala harbour
Tuesday 8th June, 2021.
We were up for 6.30 a.m. after a very disturbed night of a catamaran
group partying until 4.30 a.m. No wonder they laid around all their
time table all wrong. They missed most of the super Koufonissi
island and its great views as they just slept.
As we left the anchorage the wind started to kick in especially as we
neared the head land and headed out to sea. We had a great sail most
of the way with the wind just allowing us to fly the main and genoa.
Half way across the wind died a little and we were down to the main
as the genoa was holding us back.
We made great time and were soon in Skala harbour passing several
headlands. Clive and Trisha had gone to the island of Dhenoussa at
my suggestion as they were concerned about the milage and this gave
them a 20 miles advantage. Brian and Mari sails up were motoring all
the way and arrived before us and both boats had stern to on the quay
to be told just before we got there to move as the work on the new
harbour wall would need to move machinery the next day. Nowhere
to go as no room on the pontoon at present so we all ended up on the
fishermens quay. Not the best place in the world but tied up and safe.
We had a rest and dinner before heading off for a walk into town. Just
got there when we noticed a large sardine fishing boat slowly coming
up the harbour. Oh dear as he turned the corner 4 boats were on his
quay. Thank goodness he managed to turn the boat around very
slowly and went across the harbour and moored on the main quay.
Had not thought about a Blue Star large ferry arriving at 2 in the
morning dropping off and collecting people and off it went again
about an hour later with all the boats on the pontoon surging up and
down. Back to sleep.
