 13th June, 2015.

We had a great bus ride up into the mountains enjoying all the scenery as we climbed higher and higher passing the little villages and fields of potatoes.  We enjoyed seeing goats and cows in some of the fields something we have seen little of in the last few islands.  The island is very green and it is nice to see how so much care is taken to farm these fields often a long way from any houses. Lots of very old olive trees which must be hundreds of years old and large plain trees.  It was great to see apricots growing.

We went up to Apirathos for the views and the marble steps for which the village is famous for. We had a lovely time going in the little shops where ceramics are on sale.

We caught the bus back to Filoti and had lunch before walking down to Halki (just 2 km) to catch the bus back to Naxos.  We met a lovely couple, Karen and Steve who live in Perth, Australia but were born in England.  Hopefully they will visit us in England and we may see them in Perth one day.  They did us the honour of coming to visit Ariel for a cup of tea.

During the evening the people bring the town alive and music plays until 5 or 6 in the morning!
