We had a great time at the Pistachio Festival while we waited for Frank and Sue to arrive on the following Tuesday.  There was lots of entertainment offered like musical theatre, which was a story around the pistachio nut and music concerts each evening all outside which you were able to grab a seat and listen for as long as you liked and there was no charge.  There was a half marathon which took place in the heat of the day on the Sunday.  There was a coach tour of the island offered and the best of all were the tents which sold lots of pistachio nuts, cup cakes topped with pistachio cream,  pistachio ice cream, pistachio biscuits, toffee pistachio, honey,  jams, cheeses, cocktails with pistachio nuts part of the mixture and jewellery where the designer used the pistachio necklaces.  There were also clothes, handbags, scarves, tea towels and charity tables for the local dog and cat societies.  We were lucky enough to have a stand of birdie whistles near us and the four ladies whistled from 9 in the morning until 12 midnight!!!!

Jim loved the outdoor restaurant which appeared overlooking the beach for the four nights.  They served pork sticks, pork roll and octopus which they cooked over a BBQ and serve with beer and chips which tasted wonderful and so we had to visit two evenings.

The whole community seem to join in the festival and it was a great place to spend a few days.
