Wednesday 12th October, 2011.

We ventured further into the Gulf and sailed to Amfilokhia for the night.  We were surprised to see so many tavernas and restaurants open with no one sitting there.  It must be a summer holiday town as no one would survive on today’s takings.  We moored on one of the three pontoons which have been added in the last few years.  Although we were the only yacht and it was obviously just used by local fisherman the electricity worked.  Marvellous for charging the batteries. The night was not comfortable as the water kept slapping Ariel’s stern and keeping us all awake!  Unfortunately, there is not a lot we can do when this happens.

The following morning was fresh and our usual breakfast in the cockpit was abandoned for the saloon.  An hour later the sun was higher in the sky and the wind had dropped and we were back to motoring for Preveza town quay.  Jim at first had had both sails out with a good wind but suddenly it went and we were struggling to move.  Thank goodness for a good engine!

We spotted one black medium size dolphin in the Gulf which came near us but it was obviously chasing its lunch and did not want to play with us.  The day has turned to be very hot and it is a cloudless sky just hoping this will stay for a few more days.
