We left Badalona early afternoon in bright sunshine with a southerly wind heading north. The wind was soon gone and we motored 99% of the way with just the genoa to steady us to Blanes.  It was a distance of 25.6 miles and the water temperature made 18 degrees.  We anchored off the beach in the shadow of two large rocks called La Palomera and El Pontell. Although a little choppy at times we were not far from the marina if we needed more cover.  We did not wish to enter the marina as there is massive work being done on the wall with a dredger working practically full time.

Blanes is renowned for one of the longest beaches on the Costa Brava.  Unfortunately, we missed seeing the Jardi Botanic Mari Murta gardens designed by Karl Faust in 1928.  It contains 7000 species of Mediterranean and tropical plants.

In the morning we watched a school party use the foot path which joins La Palomera and El Portell and climb to the top of the rocks for the sea views and acknowledge the Spanish flag.  The beach area is used 24 hours a day for walking, running and dog walking.

After breakfast we made our way along the coast.
