 Launch day

We stayed in an apartment in the village of Kilada and  it was a great move as the heat of the day working on Ariel was 40 degrees. The apartment was wonderful with the air condition, lovely bathroom and a balcony with a sea view. Ariel was just as we left her but for a layer of dust which made us very pleased.  It took us three days to get her ready to go in the water.

Big day the morning of the launch.  The engineer manoeuvred Ariel down to the crane and Ariel was soon in the water. Engine on please sir said the boys. Sorry no engine, don’t worry we call someone and we are now tied up on the harbour wall. Fifteen minutes later we were told we needed 6 new batteries.

With a little luck 1 new battery arrived and the engine started. We had a plan and it was to go to Porto Heli to meet up with our friends Brian and Mari for dinner and await the arrival of another three batteries the next day. Two must go on another time.
