Chateauroux, Toulouse and Andorra April, 2010
Chateauroux, Toulouse and Andorra April, 2010.
We had a great journey through France in the little white VW polo stopping at Chateauroux for the night and Toulouse the next evening. Chateauroux is a charming little town and full of oldie world France. We found a super little restaurant and we could have been in a restaurant designed for the set of “Hello Hello”. The old bar, pictures on the walls of the bar 70 years ago, small tables were all part of the charm with the owner/waiter serving everyone and his son the chef who popped his head of the kitchen to greet the diners every now and again. The meal was excellent.
Both nights we stayed at one of the Ibis chain hotels. They are excellent for being near the motor ways, set out the same in each hotel, good size rooms, bathrooms, breakfast and dinner if so wish and every whim catered for by pleasant staff. The only draw back is they always have hard beds!!!!
We travelled through Andorra on the way to Barcelona where skiers were flying down the slopes in beautiful sunshine. The cable cars and ski lifts were all very busy. The scene was very similar to the Sound of Music. Very high mountains with deep snow, very green areas along the main roads as you made your way up the mountains to the snow. We stopped at the top of one mountain for photographs and the air was so fresh. We travelled on as we wanted to see Ariel and make sure she had been okay during the winter months.
