The wind started about 6 o’clock this morning and not from the North West as forecast but from the East. We started to hop up and down against the wall but we put out more fenders, another fender skirt and hoped the wind would not get any stronger than the 22-24 knots which we were recording.  We watched the sun rise and helped the small boat next to us to leave as he was on his own in a very light boat.  The sea was tossing him like a cork although he was well prepared with lots of fenders.  A large ship came into the harbour and had problems getting onto its jetty but after an hour or so and with the help of tugs it managed it. Several local fishing men retrieved their small fishing boats from the wall at the beginning of the blow.  It is now 11 o’clock and it is beginning to subside and calm down.  The Windfinder forecast states it will drop down to 10 to 12 at midday with the wind coming from the North West for the rest of the day.

I think we deserve an ice-cream later as we have spotted some amazing cake/ice-cream shops in the main street!
